I have decided that I will do a movie trailer as my main task for my A2 media course. At the moment I am thinking of doing a gang related film, so therefore I have decided to look at the GodFather trailer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY1S34973zA) as that is a very famous gang/mafia related film. I have also analysed each part of the trailer.

First part of trailer
The first part of a trailer can vary but traditionally it starts off with the film distributor and how the film has been approved.  This part of the trailer is crucial as it gives the audience an idea of how big the film is based on the company. I will need to find a suitable film distributor for my movie trailer as it could help me pull in my target audience.

2nd part of trailer
The second part of the trailer gives you an intro into who the main character is and gives you a major clue on what they do.  This helps gain the audience's attention as they find out the genre of the film. Therefore it is important that I get the correct choice of actor, costume, and lighting to give the audience a clear view of what genre the film is. For example as shown by the picture below the costume, and lighting clearly shows that this is the main man of something who takes pride in his appearance and as he is at a desk it shows it is a gangster film.

Third part
The third part of the trailer is where you get introduced to other characters, as well as showing a problem the main character faces in the film.  You also get to see certain bits in the film so for example if it's an action film you will see gun shots. All of these things are usually shown slowly at the start before happening all at one in quick short snippets of the films. To do this effectively I will have to find a good editing program to use and make sure my editing is spot on.

Final part
The final part of the trailer usually ends on a cliff hanger to not give to much away and with a black screen revealing the name of the film and/or when it is in cinema's. This lets the fans know when the film is out as well as making them want to watch the film to see what happens due to the trailer ending on a cliff hanger.
Review
This blog has given me an early step into what I need to put into my trailer and what order to do it in order to create an effective trailer capable of pulling in my target audience, but without giving to much away. It has also helped me understand how effective props, lighting, and casting can be when trying to set the tone for my genre.
