Target audience
Now that I have finished my movie poster as shown in this blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/organisation.html I decided to ask my target audience what they thought of the poster.
Overall I got some very positive feedback. I was praised for how well I blended in the buildings into Poezzi and reflected the city 'he owns' as well as how well my tagline fitted in with the film which I was pleased about as I decided to change it from the original 'every king must fall.' I was also praised for how well my movie poster will intrigue and attract my target audience as it sums up the film by fitting in the genre, story and antagonist in a simple but effective poster. I was really happy about this as the aim of the movie poster is draw in my target audience so I was pleased I managed to do that. Overall I am happy with how my movie poster came out and how well my target audience responded to it.

Now that I have finished my magazine front cover, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/drafting-and-planning_22.html?showComment=1458944781436, I decided to get my audiences feedback on it having built on their improvements from a previous blog post, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/target-audience.html. Overall it was positive feedback as I was praised for how well the colors of black, red, white and gold mixed together thus making it look very professional. Also the fonts I used were praised as it would catch my audiences eye and drawn them in to the magazine. From this audience feedback I have learned that this is an effective, professional magazine which would draw in my target audience which I am pleased about as that is what I aimed to do when I started to construct the magazine.

Now that I have finished my film trailer, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/blog-post_20.html I decided to get my target audiences feedback on it.I got positive feedback from my target audience. I was praised for it reflecting the tone and style of a British gangster film which I am really happy about as 'Poezzi' is an independent British film so to get the tone right for that was my main aim. I was also praised for the choice of music and sounds fitting in well with each scene in the trailer as well as not giving too much away which helps pull in my target audience as shown by a comment below from one of my target audience. I am really happy about this feedback as I was managed to hit all my goals I set when making my trailer by getting the tone and music right and being able to draw in my target audience to watch the film.

This is my finished movie poster for my film Poezzi. As mentioned in a previous blog post, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/blog-post_23.html, I was very close to finishing the poster having blended in the background of the city into him, as well as adding in a background and the catch line. All I needed to do was add in the name of the actors in the film and I decided to choose the actor of the detective to go with the actors of Poezzi and Castro. I did this because I feel that by putting the names in the order of Poezzi (Jack Bowen), to the detective I am actually ranking who rule's the city blended into Poezzi, thus implying that Poezzi rules it, then Castro is next in line as he is the challenger and then the detective who by ranking should be top is actually last out of the three because he follows the rules of the state. This shows my audience that to be on top you need to play dirty. Overall I am extremely happy with how well this poster has come out as it is very effective and similar to the products I looked at,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/target-audience.html, which was my aim.

Here is my finished trailer for my film 'Poezzi.' After publishing my first draft a while ago, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/drafting-and-planning.html, I built on feedback and I am very happy with how my trailer has come out. I decided not to add narration over the money scene instead just stretching the son 'shipping up to Boston' to the full 15 seconds I was allowed. I also decided to pick a much slower sound for the start to set the tone of the film because in my first draft in went from really slow to really fast and loud too quickly. The sound I found was perfect and created a lot of tension as well as making the audience wonder what the trailer would feature. I also added in punctuation drops as mentioned before, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/blog-post_11.html. I really think my punctuation drops fit in well and fills in the audience on what is happening in the trailer without giving to much away. Those were my two main improvements so I just brushed up on little things like sound and editing and am really pleased with how my trailer has come out as I feel it gets across the story I wanted to tell about Poezzi being untouchable but then facing his biggest challenge.

Drafting and planning
Now that I have finished my magazine front cover I have began preparing for my movie poster. As I plan to mix in Castro with Poezzi as mentioned in previous posts, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/target-audience.html, it is important that I have Poezzi's body perfect without any background or little cuts. On Paint.Net it is difficult to do this so I have opted to use photo shop. First I got the original image and then coloured in what I wanted to keep which is why the second image is in in red. I then got rid of the bits not coloured in so I had just Poezzi without any background as shown by the third image. I then added in a white background, which allows the focus to be on Poezzi and the people mixed in with him. Also by having a plain white background I am able to add in the films name as well as a little sub title to give the audience some insight into the film as well as sticking to the fact that it is a unique poster. This will lead to a simple but effective movie poster and now that I have sorted out Poezzi I can begin to construct the rest of my poster in time for the deadline on Thursday.

Drafting and planning/similar products
Here I have show how different magazines I have looked at has helped me create my magazine front cover. As mentioned in previous blog posts, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/target-audience.html, my main influence for the cover was the American Gangster front cover which is shown by the way I have laid out the cover lines, as well as given the characters a little description of themselves for the audience to get an insight into the film. I also copied there use of the pug by offering two free posters and placing the posters above the pug, to help me grab my audience eye as they might not be interested in my film, but may be interested in the films that feature on the poster. Also my cover was a replica of the American Gangster cover because I had two characters on the front rather than one, which is a rare thing to happen on movie magazine covers.
The way I got Poezzi to pose was based off of the Sherlock Holmes cover which I also looked at,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/similar-products.html. I liked the way how Holmes was holding the gun as well as giving direct address to the audience to show them that the film will feature action and his life may be in danger but he is ready for it, and I replicated this by having Poezzi look at the camera, hold up his gun and also wearing his suit to show how calm he is about Castro's threat. This is also reflected by his ice cold serious expression as it gives away no emotion.
Meanwhile I based Castro's look loosely off on the Inception cover, by having him look away at the camera thus implying to the audience that he is focusing on the bigger picture and as he is holding the gun it is clear that picture is Poezzi. I also copied a general convention of Empire magazine by having a title above the masthead to give the audience an idea of what the main film article is about. I highlighted this by putting the arrow from the Inception line 'The Dark Knight Returns' to mine which is 'Gang Wars' as both this lines will get the audience wondering what the film is about and make them want to read about it thus pulling them in.
Finally I stole the bottom cover line off of the Bourne legacy cover as it allowed me to fill up some free space as well as add in some more cover lines to attract the audience. I liked how it used white colouring and a line to separate the cover lines so used this approach for mine which came out very effectively!

Target audience
Recently in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/drafting-and-planning_11.html I showed you that I had finished my magazine front cover for my film 'Poezzi' but mentioned I would make some tweaks to it. To help me find these tweaks I asked my target audience what they thought of my trailer and got some key feedback. Firstly I was praised for my choice of colour and the look of my cover stars which is good as they are the two most important things of a movie magazine in my opinion. However there were some tweaks for me to make. For starters it was pointed out that I had put USD, which stands for United states Dollar on, but had put a pounds price. This was because I meant to put a pound and dollar price to be sold in England and the USA. However I forgot to add on the dollar price so I was glad that my mistake was pointed out! It was also suggested that I make the main cover line bigger, which again is a fair point as it is not really dominating the cover and grabbing the audiences eye which is what it is supposed to. My final improvement was to center align the names and descriptions of the gangsters. This again is a good point as it would look more smoother and professional, but as pointed out in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/blog-post_8.html, I based this front cover off of Empires 'American Gangster' cover and they do not center align as shown below. Therefore I will not center align the gangsters names and descriptions as it is an effective effect which I like the look off. My target audience feedback was really helpful and now I will make the small tweaks to my front cover, meaning that it will soon be done as well as my movie trailer leaving me with just my poster to finish.Friday, 11 March 2016
Drafting and planning
In my last blog post, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/blog-post_8.html, I was constructing my front cover for my magazine. Now I have put together the final pieces needed for the magazine and completed it as shown by the image above. I decided to add in center cover lines as it doesn't take away the focus from Poezzi and Castro. I named big films and names to catch my target audience's eye when they are passing the magazine in the shop, before putting small summary's of what the article will include to draw them in some more by giving them an insight into the articles. I then added in small lower cover lines at the bottom as well to add some more gloss and depth to my cover. I then added in 'the worlds largest movie magazine' by the masthead as that is a general convention of Empire magazine. Overall I am happy with how this cover has come out so far but will continue to make little tweaks to it if my target audience think it is needed.

Drafting and planning
Now that I am close to finishing my movie trailer and have finished my research into my ancillary products I have started to construct my magazine front cover as shown by the images above. I have decided to use one of my city pictures originally for my poster,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation_20.html as the background. I did this because I felt it was a strong image to use of a major city, to show what Poezzi and Castro are fighting for as well as the darkness reflecting the film. Having also looked at the Empire magazine cover for Empire magazine in a previous blog,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/blog-post_31.html, I decided to base my magazine on that front cover, as I really liked how the cover lines are based around the main characters and it shows the audience that they are rivals. So therefore I picked two strong images of Poezzi and Castro and imported them onto the background and placed them back to back. I then placed the main cover line over them with two sub titles and copied the little bio bit about the two characters. I then added in a pug offering two free posters to help attract my target audience to the magazine. I then added in a 'gang wars' heading above the title of the magazine similar to 'the crime issue' used in the American Gangster film. This will help show the audience the premise of the film as well as pulling them in again. I have then added in stranded conventions such as datelines and bar-codes by importing in an image of the bar-code so I stick to the general conventions. I still have a lot to add onto this cover, but I am happy with where I am and how it looks at the moment. Monday, 7 March 2016
Drafting and planning
In a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/blog-post.html, I recently discussed the improvements my teacher gave me to improve my trailer. I have taken this on board and quickly began to start making my improvements, focusing on making in fillers to help distinguish how big a challenge Castro is to Poezzi, as well as giving my target audience some insight.
In my first image I decided to copy something most trailers use. At the end they have a quick 2 second spell where the show the title of the film then it cuts to coming soon and website, plus social media network logos where you can find more information on the film, as shown by the top image from the 'Straight Outta Compton' trailer, as well as the film production logo, in my case the BBC films one which is in the center. Therefore I copied this to create my own as it allows my audience the chance to find out more about Poezzi, and the coming soon will feature after my Poezzi picture shown on the bottom. However I need to take out the coming 2016 bit out of that image.
Below is a filler I will add before Castro appears and will build on a filler I will use earlier in the trailer. This clearly shows that Castro is more than he appears in the trailer and he is the man who will push Poezzi the furthest in the quest to be king of the underworld. Finally in my last blog I forgot to mention that my teacher thought it would be better if I scraped the ratings system after the BBC intro and added in a makers off as it is more effective and is something crime drama/gangster movies use. Therefore I just made up another film name and added in the makers off to put in at the start of my trailer so it looks more professional and realistic. I now just need to focus on the sound used in my trailer, and then will have a finished copy!

Here is my first draft of my trailer which I handed in to my teacher recently. **INSERT TRAILER**
While my teacher praised me for how well I linked the action with my sound and music, and how well my actors fitted the role of gangsters and detectives, he did give me some improvements for my trailer. For starters he pointed out how it is not clear indication that Castro is Poezzi's rival as they both come across as just two separate gangs and theirs nothing that distinguishes them from each other. He suggested that I add blank fillers, as shown in the image above, to show that Castro is Poezzi's rival. This was a valid point and by adding in one of these fillers I will be able to clearly show the audience that Castro is Poezzi's new main rival, as well as stretching out my trailer a bit more time wise so it fits in as a theatrical release. It was also suggested that I use punctuation drops for my fillers. The gif below shows a punctuation drop in the Legend trailer. These are effective ways of pulling in the audience as the fillers jump out at them grabbing their attention rather than just appearing slowly and taking some of the gloss off of the trailer. My other improvements for the trailer was to sort out the sound effect at the start around as it goes from slow simple sound effects to a loud bit of dramatic music. This is a fair point and made my trailer seem a bit unprofessional so therefore I have taken it out and will begin to look for another sound effect to use instead which fits in with the slow build up at the start.

Drafting and planning
I had originally planned to take the picture of Castro for my poster and magazine, last week on Tuesday 23rd March. However as addressed in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.com/2016/02/blog-post_26.html, my friend was unable to do that so I did Castro's photo-shoot today. I felt that the images were a success, and just like with Poezzi's I have selected my best ones. I decided to use the two bottom images for my poster where I can place Castro either below Poezzi, similar to the Legend poster previously mentioned, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation_20.html, or I can place Castro inside of Poezzi using a fading effect or if needed I can place Castro next to Poezzi in a new idea if all else fails. The top image I will probably use for the magazine placing him next to Poezzi or having just Castro for a unique cover. However I am yet to decide if Castro will be on the magazine cover. Overall I am really happy with these three images and have a few more I can fall back on, but now that I have my images I will soon start constructing my poster and magazine cover.

Target audience
Recently I made a blog post,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/blog-post_26.html,showing the images I have gathered of Poezzi for my magazine and movie poster, where I picked the seven best image's in my opinion. Recently I also got some positive feedback from my target audience telling me what images would be most effective for my poster and my magazine. I have added the images they suggested below.

As shown by the image below my target audience felt that my first image would be best for a magazine and the final two for a poster, where as the other person felt that the cigar image and the gun image would be best. I am glad with these responses as they I are the images I highlighted best for the poster and magazine. I am happy that they both agreed that the third image should be used for a poster as it implies action and he looks professional, so that way if I can link him in with Castro using the effect or I fail, I will still have a strong image to use. As already highlighted in my last blog, the first image will need the window removed if I am going to use it for a magazine but has enough space to allow me to add cover lines and Castro if needed. For my second image I am torn on what to do as it is my favourite image and my audience really liked it, however I feel that it might portray Castro as the main person when it is Poezzi. However I have decided to make a draft when I have the Castro pictures to see what it looks like before making a decision. I am really happy about my positive feedback and the fact that my target audience agree with what photo's are best for the magazine and poster.

Drafting and planning
As mentioned in a previous blog post, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation_20.html, I have recently been gathering pictures for my movie poster and movie magazine. Unfortunately I hit a bit of a snag with my Castro actor being unable to do a shoot on the day I planned. Therefore I will do his photo's on Tuesday 1st March. However I have been able to gather Poezzi's pictures and have selected ones appropriate for the poster and magazine below.
I am really fond of these seven images as I feel that they portray Poezzi perfectly as it shows his dominance and power. I am yet to decide what images will feature where at the moment so I picked seven I feel I could use for both the poster and magazine if needed. I feel that the third image could be used well for a magazine cover as there is plenty of space for me to add cover lines etc if I don't use Castro, but I could even add Castro if needed. However I will need to cut out the window background of that shot.
I also feel that the fourth image could be used well in a poster. I tried to base this off of the pose Ron Kray is doing in a poster I recently looked at, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation_20.html, and feel that it reflected it well. However my only problem with this is if I use this for a movie poster, then Castro will have to go above Poezzi. This will show how Poezzi is perhaps thinking about his next steps but may hint to the audience that Castro is the protagonist rather than the antagonist.
However I got an image where I could put Poezzi about Castro, as shown by the image above to help me with this problem. My last two images are one's I am gonna consider for an effect where I mix in Castro with Poezzi, as shown again with the link above to my previous blog post. By getting his body in and the gun it allows me to fit in Castro as well as landmarks, as well showing the audience the action in the film as shown by the gun. However if this effect looks poor it is still a strong image that I can use on either my magazine or movie poster.

Drafting and planning
Here is a draft I drew for my magazine cover. As stated in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/similar-products.html, I was intrigued by Empire magazines cover of Sherlock where they had Sherlock as the focal piece but with a shadow in the background to hint to the audience of danger. While I have yet to decide if Castro will feature on the front cover with Poezzi I thought this would be a cool idea to fit them both in but let the audience know that Poezzi is the protagonist. As shown here I have drawn Poezzi as the center piece holding a gun to let the audience know he is dangerous himself, but then in the background I will have Castro sort of lurking at the back looking at Poezzi to let the audience know he is his Nemesis. I think this will be a good idea as I can still base the cover lines around Poezzi as shown bu the picture, and I can let the audience know that they are gangsters by adding 'gang wars,' above the masthead. I will have Poezzi based over the masthead to show the audience that he is the main issue of the magazine and then will add in other cover lines and pugs to pull them in. While this magazine will be hard o construct as I will need to place Castro perfectly, I think it would be an effective cover. However I will continue to look at magazines and draft others before deciding what idea is best.

Here is the front cover of Empire magazine for the James Bond film 'Skyfall.' This front cover I think is quite useful as it has the style I could use for Poezzi on my front cover. With Bond wearing a suit it shows that he is of high quality and likes to dress slick for his line of work. Therefore I will use images of Poezzi in his suit for my front cover to show my audience that he is all about high quality as well as allowing me to contrast his appearance with Castro's to show their different styles if I decide to put Castro on my magazine cover. Also the plain background allows the main focus of the magazine to be on Bond mixed in with the broken glass effect. Therefore I have taken pictures of Poezzi up against a plain background so that the main focus can be on Poezzi and his appearance. This plain background also allows the audience to focus on the gun Bond is holding which is a crucial part of his job. Therefore I will let Poezzi hold a gun to show the audience that he is a dangerous person as he is willing to kill. Once again as Bond is center of the cover it allows Empire to base the cover lines around him. I really like the effect of having a cover line above the masthead, and then a main one in the center with a few other lines added in to pull in the audience as well as letting anyone quickly passing the magazine to realize the cover is based on the Bond film due to all the cover lines. This is an effect I will use on my front cover as I feel it is a very effective technique.

Organisation/similar products
Recently I have been looking at the Legend movie poster. This film has been a huge influence in my product as I think it is very similar to my trailer. I really like this movie poster because it is simple yet reflect the Krays dominance brilliantly. By having Reggie looking concerned and Ron looking down on London it shows how despite their contrasts they both ruled the city and this is backed up by the line 'Power, Fear, Family' which shows the audience what they were about. I also like the blue background as it gives the poster a unique and effective love. This poster is also similar to the draft version I did in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation.html. I also have been looking at the poster for the TV show 'The Last Panthers.' While it is a poster for a TV show I still feel that it is a really nice poster as it has all the main characters inside the protagonist as well as the city, showing the audience what the protagonist has to do for his city as well as showing his enemies and allies. It is also similar to the other Legend poster I looked at a while back as shown here, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/target-audience.html, and I really like the effect of blending in people and the city with the main character and is something I could do with Castro and maybe even the detectives in Castro. What I did notice however was that both these posters have images of cities in whether it is a skyline or just famous buildings. Therefore I planned to do a photo shoot of the city on the 24th of February, as shown again by a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/drafting-and-planning_11.html.
However going through my phone I realized that I have some pictures I took when I have visited London, Barcelona, Krakow, and Berlin and I think they would fit in well with either layout for the poster based on which one I choose. Here are some of the images I have.I am really fond of these pictures and feel certain one's such as the Big Ben one and the third one could fit in well if opt to use the Last Panther poster style, where as the images of the Brandenburg gate and the shard would look good if I put it near the bottom of the poster as done in the Legend poster. Either way these images are just a few I have and by adding them into my poster I will give my audience a glimpse of the city Poezzi and Castro are battling for, as well as making my poster look more effective.

As mentioned in a previous http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/organisation.html, I have continued to look at similar products for my magazine front cover to help add to my ideas so far. Here I have looked at one for Robert Downey Jr's 'Sherlock' film. I was intrigued with this front cover, because Empire released one with cover lines and one without, with this one drawing in audiences because it was seen as a 'rare copy.' However while this is a cool idea to pull in an audience they could do this due to Downey Jr being such a well known actor. Therefore this idea will not be as effective on my front cover. However it is the image itself which I think can help me massively. Recently I have been trying to figure out an effective way to fit both Poezzi and Castro onto the front cover of the magazine and this image has given me a good idea for it. While Downey Jr is the main focal piece of the image, in the background you can see a shadow hinting that this could be his enemy in the film. This is then backed up by him holding the gun and giving the audience direct address as it implies he knows that his enemy is lurking in the shadows. This is an effect I could use for my magazine cover. By having Poezzi in the center of the cover and the main piece I will still be able to build my magazine around him, but then I could have Castro as a figure at the back showing the audience that the underworld is not all Poezzi's. This magazine cover has helped come up with another idea for my front cover and will be useful when I start to construct my magazine. I will begin drawing a draft of how I could use this effect on my cover in the near future.

Drafting and planning
Recently I have begun to draft some idea's for my movie poster and movie magazine. The image above is my draft at a movie poster. Here I will try and have a black background which is quite low key and have Poezzi and Castro stood in the center. However I will position Poezzi a bit higher up then Castro to show how powerful he is compared to Castro at the start of the movie. I will have Castro lower down but looking away from the camera to symbolize that he is looking into the future. I will have both of them holding a prop of a gun, which I have as shown by a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/organisation-props.html, to show my audience that both gang members are dangerous. I will have Poezzi in his suit, and Castro in a jacket to show their contrast in styles before having the title 'Poezzi' across them both faded in with a skyline of a city to show the audience the city they are fighting over.
However as shown by the image above I cannot really draw, and my draft of the magazine cover was awful as you could not clearly make out the main cover lines or part of Poezzi's body. Therefore I decided to get an image from Empire magazine cover similar to my idea. As shown by previous blogs, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/blog-post_31.html, I like the idea of having Poezzi central to the magazine looking away from the camera. This will allow me to shape the whole magazine around Poezzi and by not giving direct address it will show the audience he is focusing on bigger things. At the moment I have drawn up two drafts, the first with Poezzi on his own standing in the center similar to Johnny Depp here just holding his gun up like his preparing for someone to attack him. My second draft will have Poezzi and Castro both on it but perhaps back to back like they are both waiting for someone to attack them. However this could imply that they are friends instead of enemies, so at this moment I think it is best just to have Poezzi on the cover as he is the protagonist of the film. However I will continue to research into similar products and draw up more drafts, to make sure that it is the right decision to have Poezzi on his own rather than him and Castro.
