Similar products

This is the movie poster for the film 'Casino.' I analysed the films trailer in a previous blog, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/similar-products.html, so felt that I should analyse the movie poster as well as I know the film has some similarities to my film trailer having already looked at the film.  This poster is a pretty basic poster but is still effective. Like the other moive poster I looked at, gangster squad,http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/similar-products_13.html, this movie poster features the three main characters in the film thus giving the audience an insight into the film thus getting them interested.  But also like the gangster squad trailer only one of the characters are giving the audience direct address, and that is Robert DiNiro's character.  This shows the audience that he is the protagonist in the film which once again gives the audience an insight into the film again making them want to go see it. However in my opinion the writing on the poster 'No One Stays At The Top Forever' is the most effective part of the poster. This is because it signals what the threat is to the protagonist which is that he cannot stay at the top forever and has a new challenger. This is similar to what is happening with Poezzi as Castro is trying to knock Poezzi off of his perch so I could use writing on my poster to perhaps signal this like the Casino poster has done. This poster has shown me that despite being quite simple the poster can still look very effective and can draw in an audience.
