Now that I have began to edit my trailer I have decided to look at the other part of my project which is to make a movie poster for my film. I briefly touched on this at the start of the year as shown by my previous blogpost, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/09/similar-products-movie-posters.html, before I started focusing on my trailer.  In this blog I will look at movie posters from the film 'gangster squad.' This is because the film is similar to my movie genre and I have already looked at it by analyzing it's trailer, http://lewisglennonmediaa2.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/similar-products_16.html.

This poster is a poster I like a lot. This is because it has nearly everything the fans want to know in it, with the 4 main characters being in it, the location in the background and the title of the film in the middle of it all. Also due to the guns, cigarette and the way they are dressed it implies to the audience that this film will contain action as well as swagger in it. Also the only main character giving direct address in Emma Stones character. As she is also the smallest character on the poster but is addressing the audience it implies that she either has a bigger role to play, or that the other characters have bigger things to focus on. Either way this makes the audience think, thus getting excited for the film and making them want to see it. This is something I could use in my trailer in which Poezzi, Castro and maybe the head police officer are crammed around the title. However the only downside to this is it would imply to my audience that the police officer has a big part to play, and while he does I want the emphasis to be on Castro's 'new style' challenging Poezzi's dominance.

However individual posters of each character were also released for Gangster squad. This is a technique I could use as it would stop the problem of the head police officer taking emphasis off of the two gangs. These posters are again very effective as they do not give much away but both give the audience direct address thus attracting them to the characters. Also as it does not give to much away it makes them want to go see the film to see what the characters are like and there part in the film. Out of the posters I have looked at if I do base my Poezzi poster off of the style of the gangster squad posters I think I will use this approach, however I might do a mix off the top poster, and the other two as individual posters might not show my audience how intimidating and powerful Poezzi is.
